In early 2020, the MME foundation partnered with Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering students on financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship through experiential, hands-on programs. Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN) is part of Junior Achievement Worldwide, the world's oldest and largest non-profit economic education organization operating in 120 countries. Utilizing the organization's programme specially adapted for the Niger Delta region, MME trained volunteers to teach the students about identifying resources in their area and using them to start businesses.
2021 GOAL: Train a new generation of Entrepreneurs
In 2021, MME intends to continue supporting JAN's efforts to continue the JAN Our Niger Delta Region programme and renew efforts to expand the JAN Company Programme. JA Company Program teaches senior secondary level students how to start and run their own business, develop a product or service, and market their brand with the support of a volunteer. Students come together to form a company, choose a business name, and elect company officers to oversee operations of the company for the program duration. It teaches students to put theory into practice to understand entrepreneurship truly.
Engage Out of School Youth
Targeting out-of-school youth, MME and JAN will collaborate in implementing JAN's ITS TYME programme, which provides basic business education to out-of-school youth through various hands-on activities and supplements supporting a diverse range of learners.
